Located in bucolic Fairfield County between the towns of Canal Winchester and Lithopolis, the Ohio Log House Bed & Breakfast is both the ideal get-away and a convenient base from which to enjoy all that central Ohio has to offer. Dismantled and moved about one mile from its original location, the innkeeper, Jim, and his family worked to reassemble and restore the three story, white oak log structure over a six year period. Paying considerable attention to authenticity as well as comfort, the museum like setting of the bed and breakfast has central air, three fireplaces, and pierced-tin or antler light fixtures. The three guest rooms each have a separate bath, while a large kitchen with a wood-fired baking oven produces unforgettable fare. The enormous living room allows guests to converse, play cards, relax in front of the main fireplace, or to spill out on to the full length front porch and take up a spot in one of five Amish rockers. All the bed and breakfast's masonry work is of stone reclaimed from the structure's original foundation. Additionally, all furniture and cabinetry in the bedrooms and kitchen was built on site by the innkeeper himself from cherry, butternut, sassafras, quarter-sawn sycamore, walnut, and coffeenut. The list of wooden-hinge doors, hand-split shake roof, more antiques than you can shake a stick at, goes on and on! -- but you will just have to come and experience the Ohio Log House Bed & Breakfast's pioneer elegance and hospitality for yourself.

The innkeepers, Jim and Virginia Casto, ask that you treat their bed & breakfast and the surrounding grounds with respect and consideration. Please, no pets, children, or smoking indoors. Guests are welcome to take advantage of the following amenities: convenient parking, a 1.75 acre fish-and-release pond, walking trails through the 98 acre farm comprised of 20 acres of mature forest, 57 acres of apple orchard, vegetable and herb gardens, meadows, fencerows, raspberry hedges... as before, the list is nearly impossible to complete! Other structures on the farm include the main house:  a four story, 17 room Swiss chalet, the farm's original 1870 homestead and barn, as well as Jim's woodshop and lumber barns.

Branching out, the Ohio Log House Bed & Breakfast is only 20 miles South-east from the state capitol, Columbus, and The Ohio State University. Ten miles North-west of the county seat, Lancaster, the ridge on which the bed and breakfast sets is actually the first foothill of the rolling that builds into Appalachia. A stone's throw away, the state's largest private library, Wagnall's Memorial is open to the public. Also nearby are Chestnut Ridge Metro Park and Slate Run Metro Park and Working Farm.
